Cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage in India exceeds 184.52 crores

India’s vaccination coverage against COVID-19 topped 184.52 crores on Saturday, according to provisional reports as of 7 a.m., the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

The ministry informed that this record was achieved thanks to 2,20,93,346 vaccine administration sessions.

According to the ministry, the administration of the Covid-19 vaccine for the age group of 12 to 14 started on March 16, 2022 and so far 1.81 Crore (1,81,21,823) teenagers have received the first dose.

Apart from this, a total of 2,33,27,952 precautionary doses were administered to people aged over 60, including 44,74,440 doses to healthcare workers (HCWs) and 68,97,755 doses to health care workers. front line (FLW), the ministry said.

“Excluding precautionary doses, these 1,84,52,44,856 vaccine doses administered concerned 1,04,03,737 (1st dose) and 1,00,00,984 (2nd dose) to caregivers and 1,84,13,339 (1st dose) and 1,75,12,279 (2nd dose) were taken by field workers,” the statement released by the ministry said.

“As many as 5, 72, 68, 440 (1st dose) and 3, 83, 56, 896 (2nd dose) were given to people in the 15-18 age group. 55, 46, 83, 438 (1st doses) were taken by the 18-44 age group, while 46,66,28,426 took their 2nd dose,” he added.

According to the ministry, after a continuous downward trend, the number of active cases in India has fallen to 13,445 active cases, which now accounts for 0.03 percent of the country’s total number of positive cases.

India’s recovery rate stands at 98.76%, where 1,404 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative number of recovered patients (since the start of the pandemic) is now 4, 24,92,326.

The statement also revealed that in the past 24 hours, 1,260 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported.

No less than 5,28,021 total COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the past 24 hours, bringing the record for cumulative tests carried out to more than 79.02 Cr (79.02, 98,979).

The country has also seen a sustained decline in weekly and daily positivity rates. The weekly positivity rate in the country is currently 0.23% and the daily positivity rate is also said to be 0.24%.
