Bhubaneswar: The National Institute of Scientific Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, has announced a notification regarding doctoral admissions. program: for 2021-22 (Winter session).
According to the official notification, applications from Indian citizens are invited for doctoral admission. The program is expected to start from January 3, 2022 at the Faculty of Biological Sciences (SBS), Faculty of Chemical Sciences (SCS), Faculty of Computer Sciences (SCPS) and Faculty of Mathematical Sciences (SMS).

1. Biological sciences: 60% or GPA equivalent in Master or M. Tech or M. Pharm in all branches of agricultural sciences, biology, life sciences, pharmacy (any specialization), veterinary sciences, computer science, bioinformatics and biotechnology. Students with a master’s degree in physics, chemistry or mathematics who wish to pursue a career in biology are also encouraged to apply.
2. Chemical sciences: 60% or GPA equivalent in master’s degree in chemistry or related fields of chemistry. Student with a master’s degree in all branches of basic science with an undergraduate degree in chemistry (or chemistry as one of the subjects) or M.Tech in applied chemistry or computer science.
3. Computing: 60% or GPA equivalent to master’s degree in computer science / mathematics / electronics / electrical engineering or related fields.
4. Mathematical sciences: 60% or GPA equivalent to the master’s exam
Important note: Passing scores for national exams such as GATE / JEST / GPAT / NBHM / JGEEBILS / CSIR-UGC-NET will furthermore be decided by each school for the relevant field.
In accordance with the HBNI Ordinance, students holding a DST INSPIRE doctoral scholarship only, without qualifying for another national-level written examination, as mentioned above, will not be considered for admission to the program. doctoral degree from NISER.
Applicants with a GPA in the qualifying degree may need to produce their institution’s conversion score (in case it is not mentioned in their scoring sheet) for the percentage calculation.
NISER scholarship students will be eligible to draw Rs. 31,000 for the first two years, which will then be increased to Rs. 35,000 for the remaining three years, provided that they meet all the requirements of the Institute which will be stipulated from time to time.
Students with an external grant from agencies viz. CSIR, UGC, etc. will be eligible to benefit from a scholarship in accordance with the rules in force of the respective funding agencies.
