Reverse Job Fair planned for local job seekers

The Grow Workforce Employer and Job Seeker Summit is fast approaching, and job seekers are encouraged to attend both days. This unique summit will empower and support job seekers with a special career success workshop, on-site resume assistance and more.

The two-day event will kick off on April 20 with training and resources for the serious job seeker, followed by two very different career fairs on April 27. On April 20, a Career Success Workshop will take place and will include lunch for those who have registered. During the Career Success Workshop, led by KansasWorks, job seekers will receive support and training to help them in a competitive job market. Job seekers will learn what employers are looking for today and how to apply these characteristics to succeed in the job market. This workshop is offered to teach job seekers how to master the soft skills needed to land their dream job.

There is no charge to attend the Career Success Workshop, but all job seekers must register to receive lunch and relevant training materials. Registrations must be completed at gbedinc.com/workforcejobsummitjobseekers.

After a successful first day, job seekers are invited to attend the second day on April 27 where they will have two distinct options to explore potential employment opportunities. Job seekers serious about their search can apply to participate in a reverse job fair allowing them to position themselves as an outstanding job seeker and move to the forefront of employers’ resume piles.

Laura Patzner, One Stop Operator at KansasWorks, explained what a reverse job fair is.

“A reverse job fair is an opportunity for job seekers to set up a booth to promote themselves and let employers come to them – flipping the table. It’s a unique way to stand out and really connect skills with a chosen career path.

To participate in the reverse portion of the job fair, job seekers should email their CV to [email protected] Those looking for resume resume help can connect with KansasWorks in downtown Great Bend for one-on-one resume help.

A traditional job fair will follow from 3-6 p.m. for anyone wishing to meet with employers about vacancies. KansasWorks Bus will also be on hand to provide recovery assistance. Door prizes and food trucks will be available for those in attendance.
